Description

The Federal Training Institute Partnership (FTIP) is a Public Non-Profit Partnership with Federal Agencies and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). The FTIP was created in May 2013 by LULAC and a cadre of Federal employees who have served or are currently serving in Federal leadership positions. It engages employees throughout the Federal government.

The purpose of the FTIP was born out of an ongoing need to train Federal employees during a period of budgetary constraints and ensure diversity in the federal workforce of our Nation. LULAC understands that budget cuts have impacted training and development opportunities in many Federal agencies. However, we believe the Federal government workforce needs to represent the population it serves. Therefore, it is critical that we continue addressing the challenges that many Federal agencies may have in retaining and developing diversity, particularly Hispanics, within their agencies. In an effort to show our continued support and assist Federal agencies in addressing the aforementioned issues, we are working with Federal agencies, private consultants and National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers (NCHEPM) to make sure we continue developing federal employees for positions of greater responsibility through the FTIP.

The FTIP is planning its second annual event and will provide an intensive and structured career-development program for government employees. The FTIP will offer plenary sessions, workshops and executive coaching sessions. It is designed to enable government employees to enhance their leadership skills and develop the Executive Core Qualifications required for leadership positions and entry into the Senior Executive Service.

The 2014 FTIP will take place on Tuesday, September 16 through Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the U.S. Department of Labor at 200 Constitution Avenue, Cesar Chavez Auditorium, Washington, DC 20210. The event is free, open to Federal employees and will be limited to approximately 325 Federal employees.

The 2013 FTIP was extremely successful. It was held at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in partnership with 30 Federal agencies, 4 private consultants, LULAC Council #11041 and the NCHEPM.
